Assyce Group to build photovoltaic plants in Thailand

A contract has been secured for a 7.5 MW project with the goal to build 100 MW in this country

Assyce Group has secured a contract agreement with Sonnedix and CK (Ch. Karnchang Plc.) to carry out the construction of a solar energy project in Thailand. The 7.5 MW solar photovoltaic plant is located in the province of Nakhon Ratchasima, in the Eastern region of the country. Construction is scheduled to begin this March becoming operative in August-September 2011.

Assyce Group will be responsible for the works management, material management, construction supervision and the electrical system, as well as the design operation, optimization and maintenance of the plant, which will be carried out through an innovative and advanced monitoring and control system developed by the Group.

The Nakhon photovoltaic plant is the first of a series of projects to be carried out in Thailand by Assyce Group. The goal of the Spanish company is to reach 100 MW installed in this country, where it is currently working on a new agreement to build a 9.9 MW solar farm in the province of Chiang Rai, also promoted by Sonnedix and the Thailand construction company CK. Both projects add up to 17.4 MW with an investment of € 35 million reaching a balance-of-trade milestone for both countries.

The extensive experience of Assyce Group in solar energy photovoltaic projects, of which it is pioneer in Spain, has been key to securing this project. Annual production is estimated to be 13,140,000 kWh and will prevent the emission of 6,937.26 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.

The contract is the first to be signed by the Spanish group in Southeast Asia and responds to Assyce Group’s international expansion strategy to be present in fifteen countries. Daniel Rubio, Assyce Group International Area Director expresses: “Thailand for us is a priority market. This is a country that has bet heavily on alternative energy sources and has decisive legislation that supports and promotes its development. Assyce Group has the technology, experience and potential to become an international reference on energy efficiency and renewable energies”.
